William Samuel "Sammy" Surles

Mr. William Samuel "Sammy" Surles, 57, of Four Oaks passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Officiating the service will be the Rev. John Norman. Interment will follow in the Four Oaks Cemetery in Four Oaks.
The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, December 17, 2017  from 1:30 to 2:45 pm.
Mr. Surles was born on May 21, 1960 to the late Bill and Betty Surles. He graduated from South Johnston High School in 1978, and from East Carolina University in 1982. He was first employed by the NC Division of Motor Vehicles as a process officer assigned to the Smithfield office.  In 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Mobile Weight office in Wake County. In 2000, he was promoted to Inspector and served in that capacity until his retirement in 2012. He was awarded membership in the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for thirty years of dedicated service to the state of North Carolina. 

Mr. Surles' survivors include a wife, Kaye Surles of Four Oaks; daughter, Samantha Surles of Four Oaks; sisters, Billie Ruth Parker and husband Jimmy of Four Oaks; Susan Sloan and husband Ron of Four Oaks; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Surles is preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Surles.
