Alta White (Lee) Hamilton

White Lee Hamilton, 92, of Godwin and McGees Crossroads, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. She was born in Sampson County to the late Craven Earl & Bettie Warren Lee. White retired from teaching 3rd grade in the Cumberland County School System after 33 years of service. Her summers were spent in planting a vegetable garden large enough to feed extended family and many Sampson Co. friends and neighbors.

White was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel UMC, but adopted Mt. Zion UMC for the last 6 years and, in particular, the ladies Bible Seekers SS Class.

Funeral services for Ms. White will be Friday, December 1, 2017 at 12 p.m. at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Leonard Rex. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

White was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Howard Hamilton. She is survived by daughter Danise Emory and husband John of McGees Crossroads; Sons, Kent Hamilton and wife Susan of Mt Gilead, and Greg Hamilton of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kevin Rogerson & wife Laura, Lea Rogerson Cosentino & husband Steve, Bradley Hamilton and wife Lindsay, Kyle Hamilton & wife Leah, Kelly Hamilton Laraway & husband Patrick, Nicholas Hamilton & wife Kirsten, Alex Hamilton, Sam Hamilton & Noah Hamilton; great-grandchildren Caleb, Kaitlyn, Liv, Cooper, Bennett, Lucy, Henry, & Ada.
