M. Jo Warren

Mary Jo Warren, 85, of Main Street, Newton Grove (formerly of Raleigh) died Saturday, July 30, 2022, following a short illness.  Jo, as she preferred to be called, was the daughter of the late Samson and Mary Anna Tart Warren.  She was a life-long member of Newton Grove Methodist Church.

Growing up in Newton Grove, Jo attended Newton Grove School.  After graduation, she attended Woman's College (now UNC-Greensboro) graduating with a degree in Business.  She began her career with the NC Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures Division; she moved to Carolina Power and Light Company, Legal Division: and then to NC State University where she served as Administrative Assistant to the Head of the Animal Science Department, and later (and until her retirement) to the College of Textiles as Business Manager.

Following retirement, she returned to Newton Grove to be closer to family.  In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by one brother, Samson Warren, Jr.  She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry D. and Patricia W. Warren of Newton Grove, along with numerous cousins and many friends who loved her dearly.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, August 1, 2022, at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove.  A graveside funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Scott Foster and Rev. Chris Leak officiating.  All family and friends are welcome to attend

While flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the Newton Grove Methodist Church for the General Fund at PO Box 471, Newton Grove, NC 28366, or to a charity of one's choice.
