Joey Hawley passed away at home on January 1, 2019, after a defiant battle with lung cancer. Born on August 14, 1953, to the late J.C. and Ora Pond Hawley. Joey lived most of his life in Coats where he and his devoted wife, Kay made their home.
A man of simple tastes, Joey lead his life on his own terms and left this world the same way. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Kay Guin Hawley, and his children; Alice Denton and husband Scott of Coats, Joseph Cleo Hawley III and wife Kiyomi of Nyack, New York, and Kaitlyn Hawley and fiancé Tyler of Sanford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary Tew of Erwin, J.C. Hawley IV of the home, Tessa Denton of Coats, Ryder and Spencer Carter of Sanford, and step-grandchildren, Bradley and Anna Denton of Coats.
