Barbara Daniels Lewis

Barbara Daniels Lewis, 76, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024 with her loving family by her side. 

Born March 23, 1947 to Mildred and Jim Daniels, she grew up with her younger brother, J.P. 

The summer of 1964 started her 60 year love story when she met her husband, Ellis, at the skating rink. Ellis and Barbara went on to share many great life events and precious moments. 

Barbara graduated from cosmetology program at Sampson Technical Institute. She owned her own hairstyling salon for 20 years before starting a business with her husband, Ellis Lewis Auto. Caring for her family and church family meant the world to her. Her favorite times were with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing or cooking and preparing a meal. Her true passion was her artwork. In front of an easel was where she was truly at home. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mildred Daniels, her in laws, Woodrow Buck and Isabell Lewis, her son-in-law, Curtis Dew, Sr and sister-in-law, Phyllis Lewis.

She is survived and forever loved by her husband, Ellis Lewis of the home, her daughter, Dorinda Dew of Wrightsville Beach, her son, Rodney Lewis and his wife, Sherry, of Clinton, and step granddaughter, Colby Starling and husband Chase of Williston. She is also survived by her grandson, C.J. Dew, his wife Megan Dew, great granddaughter Summer Dew, great grandson, Weston Dew, of Magnolia, grandson, Lewis Dew and great granddaughter, Avery Dew of Clinton, her brother, J.P. Daniels of Wilmington and sister-in-law, Margaret Lewis and brother-in-law Rex Lewis of Mount Olive, as well as loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be at Brownings Methodist Church, 6505 Mount Olive Highway, Mount Olive, NC 28365, Wednesday evening, March 13, 2024 at 6:00pm with visitation following. She will be laid to rest 11:00am, Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Springvale Cemetery, also known as Clinton City Cemetery in Clinton, NC.  Family will be receiving friends at the home, 5921 Mount Olive Hwy, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
