Aaron Mason

Aaron Mason, 99, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab. 
Aaron was born on February 16, 1924, to the late Edgar Mason and Lucinda Porter Mason. Upon Lucinda’s death, he was raised by his stepmother, the late Sarah Dormeyer. 

He served in the Merchant Marines in WWII.

Aaron worked at Burlington Mills as a welder in the machine shop until he retired in 1989. Even after he retired, he wanted to be able to assist others, so he became a plumber and was able to do plumbing for the elderly and widowed throughout the town of Erwin. 

He was a simple, hard-working man, who enjoyed being able to travel, one of his favorite places to travel was the mountains.

Aaron is proceeded in death by his wife of seventy years, Mary Geraldine Mason, and son PFC Richard F. Mason.
He is survived by his son, Charles Mason & wife Kimberly of Coats, NC; Grandchildren, Amy Mason Husley and husband Tommy of Carthage, NC; Cheryl Ann Mason of Erwin, NC; Heather Mason Michael and husband Charles of Seven Lakes, NC; Five Greatgrandchildren, T.J. Husley, Tyler Husley, Emma Husley, Cruze Mason-Clevenger, and C.W. Michael
 

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at West & Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin. A Graveside service to follow at 3:30 P.M. at Erwin Memorial Park Cemetery of Erwin.
