Thomas Clifton Stewart, 93, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 in NC State Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville, N.C. Mr. Stewart’s funeral service will be Tuesday, March 6th at 11 a.m. in the chapel of West & Dunn Funeral Home in Erwin, N.C. Visitation will take place Monday, March 5th from 7 till 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Erwin Memorial Park, Erwin with full Military and Masonic Rights. Officiating the service will be Rev. Tony Beasley and Rev. Jerome Pope.
Mr. Stewart was born in Duke, N.C. on October 3, 1924 to Jehu Stewart and Maude B. Bullard Stewart. He attended Erwin School through the 10th grade. He received his High School Diploma on his 90th birthday, October 3, 2014. He served in the US Navy during WW2 from November 23, 1942 thru January 18, 1946. Was a member of Neil’s Stewart Masonic Lodge and past Master, Dunn Chapter of the Eastern Star, Raleigh Scottish Right, Fayetteville York Rite Body, Sudan Shrine, Erwin Historical Society, North Carolina Military Historical Society, Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry, American Legion Post 59, Black River Tigers Camp 2152, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Former Member of the Harnett County Board of Elections, Harnett County Planning Board. He worked with Civil Service for 23 years, which 21 years were served at Fort Bragg with the Federal Government, as a Contracting Officer Representative prior to relocation to work with HUD in Greensboro in 1985 as an Engineering Tech prior to retiring in 1987.
Mr. Stewart’s survivors include daughters Tommy Laure Stewart Miller and husband Bob, Cindy Stewart Royal, Sandy Stewart Blackmon and husband Eddie, Kandy Hall and husband Wayne, sons Rusty Stewart and wife LuAnn, Andy Stewart and wife Susie. 10 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild and brother Kenneth “Devon” Stewart.
Preceded in Death by wife Lois Dean Stewart, parents Jehu Stewart and Maude Ballard Stewart, son-in-law David Royal and brother Cecil Stewart.
