William David Godwin

Mr. William David Godwin, 73, of Newton Grove, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Johnston Health in Smithfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.I. Godwin and Berneice Daughtry Godwin.

A graveside service will be held at Warren/Oak Grove OFWB Church cemetery on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Officiating the service will be Rev. Corky Herring and Rev. Roger Hill.

David was employed by Johnston County Schools for 36 years as an art teacher and in other capacities. He was a member of Oak Grove OFWB Church. He was an avid history buff, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving canine companions Rastus and Rozier. Also are his brothers, Philip Godwin (Diane), Charles Godwin (Myra), and sister, Mary Britt (Maurice). Nephews, Kirk Godwin (Tabitha), Carson Godwin, Allen Britt (Brittney), and niece, Christina Corbett (Steven). Great-nephews Logan Godwin, Ace Godwin, and Miles Corbett, and great-niece, Sadie Corbett.
