Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Wanda Sue Thornton Harris passed away with her family by her side at Johnston Health on December 16, 2022, at the age of 70 years.
She will be endearingly remembered by children: Phillip and Dawn Harris, Jesse and Melissa Harris;
grandchildren: Justin Harris, Allie Harris, Cassie Harris, and Brandon Harris;
great-grandchildren: Ivey Harris, Kaylee Harris, Knox Davis, and Everett Harris;
several brothers and sisters;
her dog Quincey Harris, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 41 years, Phillip Ray Harris, Sr.;
Her parents Hubert Carlton (Tot) Thornton and Inez Hawley Thornton;
a sister, Linda Rose Jordan; and brother Phillip Carlton Thornton.
She was an outspoken, strong-willed, and fierce woman. Sue loved boat rides, fishing, golf cart rides, God, and her family. She was always there for anyone that needed a shoulder to cry on or just talk to. She was a wonderful cook and could make some chicken pastry that would make your mouth water. She would leave an imprint on anyone who met her. A great mother and one-of-a-kind grandmother is the legacy we have from her that we will cherish forever.
Visitation will be held at Mill Creek Christian Church on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jerry Burton officiating.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove.
Pallbearers will be Brent Thornton, Keshawn Davis, Tony Thornton, Justin Harris, Frankie Woodard, and Alton Massey. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Johnston Health.
