Virginia (Dunn) Thornton

Virginia Dunn Thornton, 81, of Mt. Olive, NC, passed away Friday evening, May 9, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, from 1:00-2:00pm at Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove, NC.  Funeral will be at 2:00pm in the Dunn Funeral Home Chapel of Newton Grove.  Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery of Newton Grove.

Virginia is survived by her son, Lamont Thornton (Kay) of Newton Grove; grandchildren, Amanda Ladd, Craig Ladd, and Triston Thornton (Rhonda); great-grandchildren, Caden and Kristin; and brothers, Ben Dunn (Sue) and John Dunn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Remus and Ida Mae Westbrook Dunn.

Virginia was an independent, strong-willed soul who helped alot of people who were down on their luck and would feed or shelter them in their time of need.

Arrangements are being handled by Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove.
