Teruko M. Bell, 98, of Angier passed away peacefully at Transitions Hospice in Raleigh on February 16, 2025.
Teruko “Terry” Mizusawa Bell, 98 years old, born on February 7, 1927, to Yaiche and Yasu Mizusawa in Kumamoto City, Japan. She was one of seven siblings. She met her future husband, Clyde “Mike” Bell, while he was in the Navy stationed in Japan. They married and had a daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Dee, born in Yokosuka, Japan on June 16, 1962. Later that year, he brought his new bride and daughter to the USA. Their second daughter, Debra “Debi” Jean, was born in Norfolk, VA on December 17, 1963 at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
The family moved again to the small town of Proctorville, OH where Terry spent 38+ years developing close relationships with neighbors and Japanese friends. After her daughters moved to NC, they decided to pack up and move one final time to be close to them and their grandkids!
Surviving daughters Sandy Small (Alan), from Monroe, NC, Debi Jones (Rick) from Angier, NC, grandchildren, Morgan Carrino (Seth) from Chagrin Falls, OH, Ricky Jones (Allie) from Angier, NC and Will Small (Rachel) from Monroe, NC, and great granddaughter, Remy Carrino.
She loved to eat out and loved to “shop” (especially for her family)! She was very generous, loved Taiko drums and Japanese music. God blessed her with her new NC relatives, new Japanese friend, Nagisa, and new church friends from First Baptist Church Raleigh Japanese Ministry. She was loved by her family and will be greatly missed. NOTE: There will not be a formal funeral service.
Dunn Funeral Home of Benson is honored to serve the Teruko Bell family.
