Tammy (Marie) Hogue Parker passed away suddenly in her home Tuesday morning, September 6, 2022. Tammy was born on August 13, 1974, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She is the youngest daughter of Virginia Kathy Lucas of Sanford. Tammy is survived by her husband, Harold Ray Parker, Jr. of Sanford, her sister and husband Carrie and Dewain DeGarmo of Spring Lake, her brother-in-law Patrick Parker of Erwin as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, her mother and father-in-law, other family, adopted family, and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her biological father Frederick Hogue, Jr, her maternal grandparents Gene and Carrie Kelly, her paternal grandparents Frederick and Nancy Hogue, her aunt Phyllis Kelly, her cousins Ronald Gene Kelly, II and Jimmy Hogue.
Tammy attended South Harnett Elementary School through the third grade, Cape Fear Christian Academy from fourth grade to ninth grade, and attended Western Harnett High School, where she graduated in 1992. She then attended what is now the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Cell and a Minor in Botany. Out of college, Tammy went to work for what is now Pfizer in Sanford, where she pent 18 years. She was involuntarily downsized from Pfizer and found herself working for Grifols and spent the last part of her career working as a Sr. Quality Specialist for KBI Biopharma out of Durham.
On May 3, 1997, Tammy married the man of her life, Harold Ray Parker, Jr. Tammy and Ray spent the 25 years they were married building a life together full of ups, downs, and everything in between. They had a love for one another that could not be put in words and a bond that could not be broken. They spent most of their married life living in Sanford. Although they had no children of their own, they had Godchildren, many nieces and nephews they spoiled rotten and pets who had no clue they were pets.
Tammy was a private person by nature and as she would put it, “did not like people knowing her business” unless she told you. Despite what may have appeared, at times a gruff exterior, she had a very tender heart. She loved to read, catch up on her favorite shows, had an affinity for shoes, could grow anything, was an excellent cook, had mastered how to sew – crochet – knit and she had a fascination with bridges. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and deep convictions and she was loyal to family and friends.
Tammy was and always will be a one-of-a-kind person. We will miss her, her personality, her sense of humor, her expressions, and her presence. Although we are all devastated by our loss, we find comfort in knowing she is in heaven, seeing the Lord in all His glory. We know we will see her again.
