Susan Graham Obituary

Susan Floyd Graham, 92, of Snow Hill, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Kitty Askins Hospice House of Goldsboro.

She was born on September 23, 1932 in Sampson County to the late William Lewis Floyd and Mercedes Spell Floyd.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Graham; son, Floyd Earl Graham; brother, Billy Floyd; and sister, Doris Cannady.

Susan spent her life helping others. She would be there for anyone day or night, no matter the time. As a young girl, she could easily work a mule in the field better than her brother, to the point where he did the housework and she worked in the fields.

Early in her married life, she worked as a seamstress at Newton Grove Manufacturing. After working many years there, she began her ministry as a CNA, taking care of those in need. She worked over twenty years at Rolling Ridge as well as in home health care.

In her later years, she was always on the go. She enjoyed golfing, and participating in the Senior Olympic Games, of which she won many medals. She was considered a Jack of All Trades, and could do nearly anything.

Susan was a member of Pleasant Union Christian church for seventy plus years and immensely enjoyed being active in the choir and CWF (Christian Women’s Fellowship).

She was loved dearly and will be missed greatly!

Susan is survived by her children, Ray Graham and wife Linda of Dudley, Barbara Oglesby of Newton Grove, Frankie Graham and wife Mary of Ivanhoe, Virginia, and Michelle Graham Barefoot and husband Tim of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Daryl Jordan, Myra Chappell and husband Cary, John Graham and wife Lindsay, Pete Graham and wife Lyndsey, Graham Barefoot and fiancé Emily, and Daren Barefoot and fiancé Anna. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.

Of special note, Susan was also preceded in death by husbands, Jim Blackmon and Caleb McCullen.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM at Pleasant Union Christian Church. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM. Officiating the service will be Rev. Debora Stilley and Rev. Matt Sharp. She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Pleasant Union Christian Church Choir would be appreciated. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 1, Newton Grove, NC, 28366.
