Stuart Ray Harmon

Mr. Stuart Ray Harmon, 57 of Erwin, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Betsy Johnson Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, with the visitation from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and a funeral service beginning at 7:30 pm at Hilltop Church of Fuquay Varina. Rev. Jeff Jones will be officiating all services. Graveside service is to be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022, beginning at 10 am at Prospect Church Cemetery.

Stuart is survived by his wife, Paula Thornton Harmon of Erwin, son, Stuart Ray Harmon Jr. and wife Taylor of Virginia, daughter, Abby Harmon Colop and husband Moises from New Bern, brother Jeffery Lane Harmon and wife Karen of Eastover, father, Walter Harmon of Erwin. Stuart is preceded in death by his mother, Julia Lane Harmon. 

Ray was a loving husband, father, G-Daddy, son, and brother. Ray was married to the love of his
life for 38 years. The apple of his eye was his first grandchild, SJ. Although, he never got the
opportunity to meet his second grandchild, Noa; he was already in love with her. If you asked
him about his children, he would gladly tell you how proud he was of them. He dearly loved his
brother, Jeff. Not a day went by that they didn’t talk. Ray was a 12-year survivor of Multiple
Sclerosis. However, he did not want to be known for the disease but for his faith. He was saved
on September 21, 1975. He loved his church family. He was a faithful member of Hilltop Church for
the last 18 years.

In order to keep the community safe, masks are required and social distancing is to be practiced during all services.
