Steve Alexander Ray 73, of Benson, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, and watching golf, fishing and westerns on the television and Steven Segal. Steven, better known as “Radar Ray” where he worked, was described as having a Heart of Gold and kind. His family was so important to him and he loved them no matter what.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Ray and Willie Mae Rigsbee Ray, a brother, and a sister.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marion Catherine York of the home; previous wife, Alice Faye Cascell (James) of Rocky Mount; Daughters, Cindy Black of Youngsville, Dawn Tant (James) of Battleboro; a son Chris Ray (Morgan) of Wilson; Step-Daughters, Anita Jones and Angie Holloman of Wilson; a Sister, Sheila Sheppard of Raleigh; a cousin, Everette Matthews of Erwin; and is loved by many nieces and nephews. He is also loved by seven grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Family will have a private Celebration of Life service at a later date.
