Mrs. Shirley Ann Warren Tart (Ma), age 87 of 228 Harper House Road, Newton Grove, passed away peacefully at her home on January 15, 2023. Mrs. Tart was born March 3rd, 1935 in Sampson County, daughter of Ira. M. and Arie L. Warren. Mrs. Tart grew up on a farm with eleven loving siblings. She met the love of her life, Hooper Tart, at the age of 15. They became soulmates and shared a beautiful life together for 66 years. Together they farmed, producing various crops, however the best of which was their family. Shirley loved and nurtured her children, instilling in them Christian morals, values, unconditional love and wisdom. She taught everyone valuable lessons to help them through life, using her Bible as her guide. Her door was always open welcoming all into her home. She was a wonderful cook sharing not only her delicious meals but herself as a loving and compassionate person. Mrs. Tart was an avid gardener, taking pride in her home and yards. Her legacy was enjoying watching her grandchildren grow up and starting families of their own. She was blessed to experience the births of 15 great-grandchildren. She was so proud of her ever growing family.
Mrs. Tart is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Hooper” Tart; her father Ira M. Warren; and her mother Arie. L. Warren as well as five brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by daughters Lark T. Thornton and husband Keith; Mary Starr Tart; Charles H. Tart, Jr. and wife Sherry; James Glenn Tart and wife Lisa all of Newton Grove; Grandchildren Loren Thornton and wife Emily, Cherish Naylor and husband Christopher; Charles H. Tart, III and wife Macey, Chance Thornton, Candice Philips and husband Brandon; Natalie McCullen and husband Zeke, Ariel Thornton and wife Connor; and Bratley Tart. Fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters Ida Ray Eldridge and LaRue Smith and husband Wayne; brother Larry Warren and her sisters-in-law Gayle Warren, Patsy Warren, and Doris Dickens.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM at St. Paul F.W.B. Church.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul F.W.B. Church.
