Shirley Frances (Williams) Oakley

Shirley Williams Oakley, age 93 of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Harnett Woods Nursing Center in Dunn, North Carolina.

Ms. Oakley was born on February 20, 1931 in Harnett County, NC, daughter of the late Clem and Frances Williams.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Oakley, stepson Roger Oakley, and son Eric Greene, Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Greene Mason and husband, Charles of Coats;  Grandchildren, Justin P. Warren, Murphy Greene and Phillip Greene; Great grandchildren, Hunter Greene (Kiersten), Brice Greene and Hannah Grace Greene; Great-great granddaughter, Adeline Ruth Greene.

Having worked until the age 84, her work life consisted of time spent at Gould & Goodrich as an office administrator, a courier at Good Hope Hospital, and a library assistant at Harnett Primary School. Shirley was a woman of faith and a longtime member of the Erwin Methodist Church. She enjoyed music, especially old hymns, and working in her flower garden. Her poodle pup was also very special to her.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Urline Melvin, Latonya McLean and Kenisha Lewis in the Spark Unit at Harnett Woods Nursing Center for their extraordinary care of Shirley.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin.  Funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:30 pm.  A private burial will be held later.
