Roxie Hyatt Darden Smith

Roxie Hyatt Darden Smith, 80, of Garner formerly of Newton Grove passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.  Ms. Smith's funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the West & Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in  Newton Grove at 11:00 a.m.  The Pastor Danny Darden and  Pastor Ricky Lee will be officiating the service.  The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. and at other times at the home of Ms. Roxie Smith.  Ms. Smith will be laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro.  Family request that mask be worn at all times.

Ms. Smith's survivors include her daughter's, Janice Darden Barefoot of Spivey’s Corner; Gayle Darden Maldonado of Clinton and Teresa Darden Oudeh of Benson; a son, Danny Ray Darden of Clinton; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a sister, Laura Evens.

Ms. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Smith; her parents, William K. and Minnie Hyatt; brothers, McKiver Hyatt, Sherman Hyatt, Jesse Bernice Hyatt, Ervin Hyatt; sisters, Selia Wimbley, Eula Hoke, Della Kyle, Loudie Smith and Louella Brock.
