Richard Vincent Vandyke

Richard Vincent Vandyke age 57, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday August 23rd, 2023. Services will be held at West & Dunn funeral home in Erwin Tuesday September 5th at 2:00 pm.

Richard is proceeded in death by his step mother, Sue Vandyke, of Daytona Beach Florida. He is survived by wife, Betty Herring Vandyke of Erwin, NC, Son, Richard W Vandyke and wife Cassie of Coats NC, Daughter, Brittany Vandyke Coffield, and Fiancé William Starling of Dunn, NC, Son, Dustin J Vandyke of Erwin, NC, daughter Heidi Kaitlin Vandyke of Erwin NC. Father, Irvin Joseph Vandyke of Daytona Beach Florida, Brother, Joey Vandyke and wife Brenda of New York, Sister, Debbie Flynn and Husband Peter of Florida, Brother Irving Vandyke of Florida, Christopher Vandyke and wife Vlasta of Florida.

Richard also had a family he was very close to and considered them as his own.  James and Dora Simmons of Clinton, were like step grandparents to Richard, their children were like his brothers & sisters. James “Jimmy” Simmons and wife Susan of Roseboro, Kay Goodman of Stedman, Jan Kinlaw and husband Earl of Clinton, Jean Simmons and husband James of Clinton, Joan Ammons and husband Scottie of Linden.

Richard has seven grandchildren, Bradley Vandyke, Luke Coffield, Leonna Barefoot, Paris Barefoot, Kensley Vandyke, Olivia Vandyke, and Aubree Vandyke. He has many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his friends. He is loved by all his family and friends and will be deeply missed by many.
