Anna Patricia “Trish” Williams Warren, 78, of Harper House Road, Newton Grove (formerly of Nashville, TN) died Monday, October 23, 2023. Trish, as she preferred to be called, was the daughter of the late Milton Sherrill and Eleanora House Williams.
Growing up in the House’s Mill area of Newton Grove, NC, Trish attended Westbrook Elementary School and Hobbton High School. After graduation she attended the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, graduating with a degree in music. She began her career as a middle school music arts teacher, but after one year, she moved to Nashville, TN, to begin a career in the country music industry.
Her career in the music industry began at Al Galico Music Publishing Company and in 1970 she moved to Mercury Records, working with producer Jerry Kennedy. When Mr. Kennedy formed his own production company, JK Productions, Trish moved to the new production company, working there until she retired. In 2007, Trish was nominated for and was awarded a Source Foundation Award, which recognizes the achievements and contributions made by “non-artist” women in the country music industry.
After retirement from the music industry in 1991, Trish moved back to her hometown to marry her seventh-grade sweetheart, Larry, and to be closer to family. In those retirement years, she co-owned and operated Williams Sand & Gravel, a business inherited from her father. But most importantly, she served Newton Grove Methodist Church and Hopewell Methodist Church for over 30 years, serving variously as pianist, organist, choir director, and music director. Her love of music never diminished in any way.
In addition to her parents, Trish was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Bobby Whitfield and Glenn McGuirt. She is survived by her husband, Larry D. Warren, her sisters, Linda Williams Whitfield, DeLena Williams Bryan and husband Mark, and Edna Williams McGuirt, all of Newton Grove. She is also survived by five nephews and twelve great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous wonderful, wonderful cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove. A Graveside funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 11:00 am, with the Rev. Chris Leak, Rev. Gregg Presnal, and Rev.
