Michael Alan Norris

Michael Alan Norris, 67, of Erwin, passed away early Monday morning, August 11, at Harnett Woods Nursing Center.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Rufus and Reva Jane Ryals Norris; and two brothers, Jerry Wayne Norris and Walter Herbert "Herbie" Norris.

Michael is survived by three sisters; Donna Norris Hair (Danny Williams), Teressa Marlene Norris Silvas (Froylan), and Cami Lori Norris Viganas; and many neices and nephews.

As a young child, he suffered third degree burns on his legs, but he was a fighter and overcame that.  Most know that he led a rough and tough, sometimes wild life, but as he aged he calmed down.  Michael was a wanderer, staying here and there with friends and family. 

Prior to being disabled, Michael worked as a carpenter for many years and was skilled with a saw.  He was a loving person that loved his mother and brothers, "Herbie", and Jerry, as well as his sisters or "sistas" as he would say, and his special pups, Ozzy and MoMo.  He was a kindhearted individual that would go out of his way to help others.  He loved to cook and was quite the home "gourmet", but most of all, he loved riding his scooter everywhere.  He loved Harley Davidson and his favorite rock and roll artists were KISS and AC/DC.

In the last few years, his greatest accomplishment was being self-sufficient and he had a home.  This was his happy place - at home with his dogs.  He also offered shelter to others when they needed a hand up.  Michael was a simple man.  He could be grumpy but was kind and had a heart of gold.

Services include a visitation on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin at 904 Lucas Street, Erwin, NC.  Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
