Mrs. Mary Anna Weeks Tew, age 93, of Roseboro, passed away peacefully at her home on January 13th, 2026 surrounded by her family and loved ones. A native of Newton Grove, she was the daughter of the late Alton Wright “Tony” Weeks and Clara Mildred Cogdell Weeks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William David Tew, daughter Janie Claire Tew, and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Jernigan Tew. Mrs.
Tew is survived by her two sons, William David Tew Jr. of Dunn and Bryan Weeks Tew and wife Kimberly of Roseboro; five grandchildren, Kelly Suzanne Tew Tyndall (Jason), Katie Stevens Tew Butler (Chris), Joshua Clayton Tew (Corrie), Kyle Weeks Tew (Zoe), and William Owen Tew (Hannah); nine great-grandchildren Zannah, Kendrick and Sterlyn Tyndall, Jerryanna, Eliza and Emilia Butler, and Jax, Eli and Ali Tew.
Mrs. Tew was devoted to both her family and the church. She was a member of Mt. Elam Baptist Church since 1952. She was active throughout her life in her community as well as her church, serving as secretary and treasurer. She is remembered as a great southern cook and could regularly be found reading or sewing. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Mt. Elam Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of Mrs. Mary Tew.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to Mt. Elam Baptist Church Cemetery Upkeep.
The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Gentiva Hospice, specifically Dr. Sessoms, nurses Tommi, Jenise, Shannon, Sondra and Mikki, as well as Mrs. Tew's caretaker, Keisha and Chaplain Chris.
