Mary Joyce (Evers) Norris

Mary Joyce Evers Norris, 58, of Homberg, Germany (formerly of Hope Mills, NC) passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023.  She was a retired teacher.

Mary is survived by her husband, Mitchell Norris; 2 sons, Brian Norris (Samantha) of Chesapeake, VA, and Joshua Norris of Newport News, VA; 2 brothers, Terry Evers, and David Evers; a granddaughter, Lilly; and mother-in-law, Fredis Norris; sister-in-law Denise Benson and husband Tony: a niece, Tracey Morgan (Chase); a nephew, Kyle Benson (Crystal); 2 great-nephews, Austin, and Jayce Benson.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother and her joy was spending time with her family and friends.  She was a beautiful person both inside and out and her laugh always filled the room and brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure to spend time with her.   She loved music, taking walks on the beach, and traveling the world to experience new cultures, but mostly, she enjoyed just spending quality time with her husband of almost 40 years.  From an early age, Mary had a desire to educate herself and completed two master degrees and devoted her time teaching in various school systems.   She believed in providing our youth the best possible education and her mentorship will continue to be felt by all who were privileged to know her.   Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends but we know through her faith in Jesus, she is in heaven and we will be together again.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the West and Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Erwin.
