Marie Smith Parson, 88, of Dunn, passed away Saturday evening, March 15, at Betsy Johnson Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born on September 3, 1936 in Duplin County, NC to the late Henry Smith and Effie Smith.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, William David Parson, and her sister, Edna Beasley. Also her precious pup, Ginger.
Marie is survived by loving family including a son, Ricky Parson of Dunn; grandchildren, Brandon Parson and wife Tiffanie of Erwin, and Nicki Tart and husband, Jeremy of Coats. Great grandchildren, Sophia Ferrari and husband, Anthony of Coats; Michael Parson of Dunn, Addison Tart of Coats, and Blake Tart of Coats. Her brothers, James Smith, and wife Phoebie, of Erwin and Carl Smith, and wife Elaine, of Erwin. Also many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Parson worked for many years as an Office Manager and Bookkeeper at various local businesses including RayLess Department Store, Dunn FCX, and Godwin Manufacturing until her retirement from D & K Motors. After retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, and taking trips to the beach and mountains. Lighthouses were a favorite of hers. Marie was avid TV watcher and liked the Andy Griffith show, NCIS, and game shows.
Marie Parson was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held on Friday, March 21 with visitation at 11:00 am and funeral service at 12:00 pm at Pleasant Grove OFWB Church located at 290 Red Hill Church Rd. in Dunn. Burial will follow the service in Hillcrest Cemetery, 16100 Hobbton Hwy, Newton Grove, NC.
