Evelyn was a housewife who loved her family. She liked her trips to the mountains and the beach with her children and grandchildren. She really enjoyed cooking and having time with the family. She was a good cook and was told that she had taught her daughters well. She also worked in her vegetable gardens over the years, canning and freezing vegetables, and making pear preserves to share with others.
She also loved to read and listen to her southern gospel music. She loved going to the Gaither Concerts. Even while she was battling cancer, she wanted to know if we were going to the Singing in the Sun at Myrtle Beach, which she did several years with her daughter Margaret and her husband, Jeff. Some years she attended the Gaither Concerts with her daughters and her sister, Lois. In her last years, she became a fan of the old westerns on tv and spent many hours watching and enjoying them.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26 from 2:00-3:00pm at West & Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Erwin. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm, also in the chapel. Burial will take place at Erwin Memorial Park immediately following.
