Lynn Mobley

Hugh Lynn Mobley of Houston, Texas and Newton Grove, North Carolina, passed away March 05, 2025 at his home in Houston, Texas.

Lynn was born on October 31, 1942 to Hugh L and Hettie Chandler Mobley of Traskwood, Arkansas. He attended Traskwood public school, graduated high school at Glen Rose in 1960, and received a degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas in 1964.

His early career was in auditing, subsequently followed by 26 years in various controllership positions at several Georgia-Pacific Corporation and Georgia Gulf Corporation locations through the central part of the United States.
Early during those years, Lynn married Judith Annette Smith of Newton Grove, North Carolina, and they remained as one until her death in 2014. Lynn is survived by two sons, Eric and Hugh, Hugh's wife Rena, grandsons Trace and Bryson, and granddaughter Chaney Beth. His daughter, Melissa, predeceased him in 2015.

Lynn was a Certified Public Accountant, enjoyed playing golf, writing about his lifelong memories and adventures, and researching family ancestry and the history of his childhood home town. He also enjoyed watching college sports on television, and was a longtime supporter of the University of Arkansas school of business, his church, and numerous other charities.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm at Dunn Funeral Home on Friday, March 14, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 12pm on March 15, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Newton Grove, North Carolina followed by interment in the church cemetery. 

Floral arrangements can be made through Newton Grove Florist & Gifts (910.594.1238). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (Memo: Cemetery Fund) would be an option Lynn would undoubtedly appreciate.
