Mr. Luther A. “Rock” Johnson, 96, 204 Railroad Road, Benson, NC, passed away at his residence on Friday, February 5,
Mr. Johnson was born on September 29, 1924 to the late Archie G. Johnson and Eunice Tart Johnson of Benson. He was predeceased by his wife, Willodean “Dean” Johnson in 2004.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his children: Valerie Lancaster of Erwin, Ray Johnson and wife Jamone of McGee’s Crossroads, and Toby Johnson of Benson. Niece: Traci Dixon of Raleigh. Grandchild: Paige Boles of Florida, great grandsons: Dolton Bledsoe and Travis Boles. Brother: A.G. Johnson of Benson, Sisters: Annie Laurie Lee of Benson and Louie Belle McLamb of Dunn. Sister-in-law: Zolene Johnson. Several nieces and newphews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 9 at 11 am at the Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. The Rev. Glenn McCullen will officiate. The family understands the desire to stay safe that is why we request those in attendance to please wear a mask.
Mr. Johnson was a Service Manager at Banner Motor Company, B L and M, and Barnes and Lee Chevrolet in Benson from 1949 until retiring in 1999.
Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran. He was also a member of the American Legion, Banner Post 109 in Benson for over 50 years.
