Lula Long, age 83, of Newton Grove, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 3rd, 1942, in Sampson County to the late Fleet Sessoms and Mattie Draughon Sessoms.
Lula is also preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Floyd Vernon Long; a son; Floyd Keith Long; and a brother; Bobby Sessoms.
Lula spent much of life working as a seamstress, she not only loved to craft clothing, but enjoyed working on puzzles and coloring. After retiring from seamstress, Lula went to go work at Eddie's Café and Subway, later retiring from Subway. Lula enjoyed cooking and playing Bingo in her spare time.
Lula is survived by her daughters; Janet Hobbs (Ronnie) of Newton Grove; Kristy Stewart (Rodney) of Benson; and Joni Jackson (Kevin) of Newton Grove; brothers; Robert Sessoms (Linda) of Salisbury; and William Sessoms of Clinton; sisters; Loudelia Howell (Ernest) of Autryville; Ethel Mason of Princeton and Judy Glover (Billy) of Princeton. She is also loved by nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove on January 2nd at 1 PM. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM.
