Leola Barefoot Ivey, 94, of Dunn, NC, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Harnett Woods Nursing Home of Dunn.
She was born on July 14, 1931 in Harnett County to the late Brascus Barefoot and Georgia Barefoot.
Leola was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Woodrow Ivey and brothers Golden Ray Barefoot and Roland Barefoot, and sister Nola May Barefoot.
She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, and friend to many in the community. She was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church and dedicated her life to Christian service. She was a hairdresser for 34 years with a loyal customer following. She opened her home to several in the community who were away from family and included them in her family’s celebrations.
She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed!
Leola is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Henrietta Ivey of Angier and Ricky and Janette Ivey of Dunn, sister Eula Ivey, granddaughter Elizabeth Poe and several great, and great-great grandchildren.
She is also loved by nieces and nephews, Chris Ivey, Louis Ivey, Wayne Ivey, Willa Dean Oakes, Ellen Ivey, Delous Ivey, June Salmon, Bonnie Peacock, CA Barefoot, Marie Baker, Michael Barefoot, and Rhodean Baine.
The family would like to give special and heartfelt thanks to the Staff of Harnett Woods Nursing Home and Cardinal Hospice Care for their compassion and empathy while assisting her with her needs.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Dunn Funeral Home of Benson, NC. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Officiating the service will be Rev. Adam Hicks and Rev. Steven Campbell. She will be laid to rest at Devotional Gardens of Dunn.
