Joseph Eugene Allen passed away on May 3rd, 2024, at SECU Hospice House in Johnston County, following a courageous and hard-fought battle against cancer. Born on January 28th, 1956, to Joseph Everett Allen and Elgie Jernigan Allen, Eugene embodied the essence of a loving father and a devoted Christian throughout his life. Eugene loved life and spent time embracing the simple joys that surrounded him. Whether nurturing the flowers in his garden, sharing moments of affection with his beloved dogs, or relishing in his daughter's company over lunch, he found profound happiness in life's everyday treasures. His genuine laughter and down-to-earth humor were as much a part of him as his beating heart, leaving an indelible mark on all fortunate to cross his path.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, survived by his cherished daughter, Jessica Allen Barbour, her husband Brandon Barbour, and their adored chihuahuas, whom Eugene adored as his furry grandchildren. Eugene is also survived by his sisters Cathy Parker and Jackie Allen, alongside Cathy's husband, Roger Parker, and their children Johnny Parker and April Beasley. In their hearts, Eugene's memory will forever reside, a testament to the profound impact he had on their lives, shining as a beacon of light and love.
A celebration of Eugene's life will occur at West and Dunn Funeral Home, 208 W Main St. Benson, with a viewing commencing at 1 PM EST on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, followed by the funeral service. All whom Eugene's kindness and grace have touched are welcome to join in honoring his remarkable journey through life.
