John "Johnnie" Lloyd Ryals, Jr

John "Johnnie" Lloyd Ryals, Jr., age 90, of Erwin passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 in Central Harnett Hospital, Lillington NC surrounded by his loving family.

Johnnie is the son of the late John Lloyd Ryals, Sr. and Virginia Pearl (Capps) Ryals of Erwin.  Also, he was preceded in death by his special friend of more than 40 years, Kathleen Jackson of Erwin.

J. L., as he was known in the Family, enjoyed the simple things in life:  helping his family, good food, tinkering on anything mechanical and maintaining the family farm.  In 1997, he retired from Swift Textiles, Erwin Division, where he worked as a slasher in the process of turning cotton into cloth.

Johnnie is survived by one sister, Agatha Pearl (Ryals) Hayes (husband, Wiley, deceased) and three brothers:  George "Pete" Edward Ryals (wife, Bettie, deceased), Clifton Ray Ryals (wife, Dale) all of Erwin and Gerald "Jerry" Vernon Ryals (wife, Brenda), Russiaville, IN. He enjoyed visits with his extended family which includes many nieces, nephews and cousins.

To commemorate Johnnie's time here on earth, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
