John Robert McLeod

John Robert McLeod, age 92, of Erwin, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025. He was born in Harnett County, NC on January 22, 1933 to parents Jim Owen McLeod and Nera Hamilton McLeod.

Now a military veteran, after high school, John, joined the Army and served during the Korean War.  Upon returning home, he attended Campbell University focusing on Accounting classes.  After figuring out Accounting was not the career for him, he became a licensed electrician, and he also worked for Montgomery Green Company in Raleigh, NC for many years.

Mr. McLeod loved working in his yard, always keeping it looking good.  He also enjoyed reading books, gospel music, country music, and his church family. He attended Coats Baptist Church regularly for sixteen years.

John is survived by his son, Robert Allen McLeod and wife, Laurie Haggis McLeod of Spring Hope, NC;  grandson, Kienan Haggis, of Rocky Mount, NC, and brother, Phillip McLeod, of Kinston, NC.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin.
