John Silas Honeycutt

John Silas Honeycutt, age 63, of Dunn, NC, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025. While our hearts are heavy, we are deeply grateful for the time we were given with him on earth.  John was born on September 16, 1962, in Dunn, NC, the son of Jerry Silas Honeycutt and Dorothy Adcox Honeycutt.

John was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He grew up on the banks of Rhodes Pond, where his love for the outdoors began. Nature was his happy place, and he especially enjoyed working with his hands. John worked for many years as an assistant at Presnell Concrete Products and as a concrete mixer for Jerry Autry Masonry. He also spent time working as a laborer at Jackson’s Farm in Dunn.

John is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Silas Honeycutt.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Honeycutt Barbour; sisters, Marsha Olive and husband Martin of Smithfield, and Myra Baker and husband Tony of Dunn; brothers, Jerome Honeycutt and wife Patsy of Dunn, and James Honeycutt and wife Sharon of Dunn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with numerous friends who were like family.

John will be deeply missed by his family, his community, and all who knew and loved him. 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 21, at 2:00 p.m. at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Erwin. Pastor David Cothren will officiate. Burial follows at Old Bluff Church Cemetery in Godwin, NC.
