Joe Bledsoe Obituary

Joe “Pat” Bledsoe, age 79, of Erwin, NC, went to meet Jesus on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, while at his home surrounded by family. Joe joins his parents, Joe C. and Beulah Bledsoe; brothers, Cleo Bledsoe and Kenneth (Buddy) Bledsoe; and sisters, Gladys Pope and Luddie Mae McCorquodale in Heaven. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Hilda Bledsoe, his daughters; Karon Casey and husband Glenn of Wilmington, NC, and Christal Wood and husband David of Dunn, NC; granddaughters Raven Honeycutt and husband Dillion of Dunn, NC, and Tessa Wood of Dunn, NC; and great granddaughter Riley Honeycutt of Dunn, NC. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joe was a Vietnam Veteran and served in both the Army and National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Banner Post No. 109 for 47 years and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 74. He loved working on his cars, playing cards with his friends, and was always up for hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family such as vacations to the each, mountains, or scenic road trips; family gatherings from simple Sunday dinners and birthday celebrations to bringing the whole family together for a fish fry, and just playing a fun game of Canasta with his grandchildren.

In addition to being a loving Husband, Daddy, and Papa, Joe loved southern gospel music. He attended many gospel sings with his family. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Sansom Community Church. Burial will follow at Erwin Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to American Legion Banner Post No. 109, Disabled Veterans Chapter 74, or Sansom Community Church.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
