Joan L. (Anderson) Anfinsen

Joan L. Anfinsen, 88, of Newton Grove, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Rolling Ridge Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. 

Born on July 5, 1937 in Westchester, NY to the late Gilbert Malcolm Anderson and Marion Wilhelm Anderson. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert M. Anderson, Jr.
Joan is survived and loved by her husband of 65 years, Leonard Anfinsen; children, Craig Anfinsen, Dawn Anfinsen, and Drew Anfinsen (Tracy).

She started her career at General Foods, raised her family, and finished her career at USGA. Joan and Leonard would pack up and travel in their motor home, traveling through all of the United States, Canada and Mexico together. They both enjoyed modern western square dancing. She was a lifelong quilter and crafter who had a talent for quilting and embroidery. She was very active in the Embroiders Guild of America and DAR. Joan also was an avid mystery novel reader.

 
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
