Jimmy Ray Lewis

Jimmy Ray Lewis, age 86, passed peacefully at home in Chalybeate Springs,  Fuquay-Varina Monday, January 22, 2024 and has gone to be with our Lord. He was born on Purfoy Road at the Lewis home place in Fuquay-Varina to James (Jim) Edward Lewis and Anna Grace Wood Lewis on April 21, 1937. He attended Lafayette School and graduated in 1956. He was a farmer by trade until retirement. He was always outdoors and loved to tinker. He was full of jokes and fun and was always ready to help others, sometimes putting himself last. He was also very serious when warranted. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and true friend. Jimmy is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of nearly 55 years Betty Smith Lewis, a daughter Melinda Lewis Griffin (Sean Lee) of Fuquay-Varina, two sons James Micheal Lewis and Eric Patrick Lewis of Fuquay- Varina and two grand children Brett Excell Griffin and Alayna Hope Griffin of Fuquay-Varina, and his beloved dog Riley. Special thanks to Cardinal Hospice care especially Shonda and Kaitlyn for their compassionate care and Glenda Matthews for going above and beyond.           

Visitation for Mr. Lewis will be Thursday, January 25th, 2024 at 10am with the funeral service at 11am at the Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church located at 238 Chalybeate Road, Fuquay Varina, NC  27526.    Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
