James Alfred Lewis, born to Bonnie and James Lewis December 23rd 1954 in Danville, Virginia, passed away January 23rd 2024 in his home surrounded by family and friends.
Throughout his life he was known for his ironwork and welding earning the nickname “Ironman Jim”. He had a love of music that he shared with his children teaching them to play guitar. You could find him outside tinkering on cars or riding the roads on his motorcycle. He served in the Marine Corp. and worked for C.P. Buckner Construction.
He is preceded in death by his son William Clayton Lewis, brother Bruce Lewis, and his father James Lewis. He is survived by his wife Ellen Lewis of the home, daughter Sarah Jackson and husband Allen of Roseboro NC, daughter-in-law (widow of William) Amy Adkins of Newton Grove NC, son James Lewis of Hartsville, SC, mother Bonnie Lewis of Dunn NC, sister Betty Nelson of Clinton NC, sister Connie Tucker and husband George of Warsaw NC, and brother David Lewis of New London NC. He was a beloved papa to 4 grandchildren: Autumn Lewis, Savannah Lewis, Lily Jackson, and Clayton Jackson. And a loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at Randall's Chapel PFWB Church in Newton Grove, NC.
Visitation will be held from an hour prior to the service.
He will be laid to rest in the Westbrook Family Cemetery.
