Jack Roland Bradshaw, 82, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Sunday, November 20th, 2022, surrounded by family. Jack was born on November 9, 1940 in Sampson County, NC, the eldest child of the late Therman Silvester Bradshaw and Isabelle Thornton Bradshaw.
Jack graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. During high school, he met his future wife while dancing on the boardwalk of White Lake, NC. Jack married the love of his life, Judy Catherine Barefoot of Dunn, NC on February 12, 1961. They enjoyed 61 happy years of marriage together. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1966. After college graduation he worked for R.H.Bouligny as a design engineer, and was assigned to a project working on recoilless rifles for the Vietnam War.
Jack had an eventful year in 1969. His career began by designing the foundations for the Charlotte Westinghouse Steam Turbine plant, purchased his first home in East Charlotte, welcomed the birth of his first child, and bought a weekend get-away on Lake Norman. In 1979 he found property on Lake Wylie perfect for building his dream home. Using his drafting and engineering skills, he designed the house, and enjoyed building much of it himself. Jack was a highly respected project manager during his 40 year career at Westinghouse. He was recognized especially for developing a unique method of installing the huge machines that manufacture steam turbines used in power plants. In his fun time on the weekends Jack seemed to always be on the lake, either waterskiing, fishing or relaxing on the pier with his wife and children. After Westinghouse was purchased by German-based Siemens in the late 1990s, Jack enjoyed his business trips to Europe, and sharing his travel tales.
At the age of 70 he retired from Siemens Westinghouse, spent his winters in Central Florida bass fishing, and his summers cruising Lake Wylie with family on his pontoon boat. His favorite activities were bass fishing, reading novels, and evening cruises on the lake. He was a member of Metrolina Bass Hunters for over 20 years, making lifelong friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends throughout the Continental United States, Canada and Hawaii.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Judy Bradshaw of Charlotte NC; his son, James Roland Bradshaw-Jensen and his husband Mike of Lake Wylie SC/Germany; his daughter Catherine Denise Bradshaw Beard and her husband Rick CMSgt of Lake Wylie SC, and three adoring grandchildren, Dawson Allen Beard SSgt, Caitlyn Victoria Beard, and Cameron Roland Beard A1C, all of Lake Wylie SC; his sister Blenda Viola Bradshaw Walters, her husband Lacy of Charlotte NC, and many caring nephews, nieces and cousins. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Eddie Therman Bradshaw.
