Irvin Broadie, Jr

Irvin Broadie, Jr. age 59 of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29th, 2025 at his residence. He was born on May 25, 1966 in Providence, Rhode Island.

He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Irvin Broadie, Sr. and Evonne Marie McCoy, and also his step-father Sandy (June) McKoy.

Irvin graduated from Harnett Central High School in 1983 and served in the Marines for about three years.  After returning to Erwin, he worked various jobs including CNA, construction on base at Fort Bragg, and working with marble countertops.  For the past ten years, he worked as a buried wire technician with AT&T.  He loved his job and his coworkers.  

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cathy.  They have been together for sixteen years.  Also his step-daughter, Analyse Yoshimi of the home, whom he loved like his own child.  Other family members include step-daughter, Jody Pau and her husband Lolo and grandson, Junior.;  Irvin's son, Stephen "Choo" Broadie and wife Krista, of Florida;  Sons, Eric Broadie and Damien Broadie, both of Lillington;  One brother, Steve Broadie of Fayetteville, and a sister, Karen McLean of Willow Springs.

Mr. Broadie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and spent most of his time with family.  He was kind and patient, a good friend to all, always helping others.  He loved to laugh and joke around. He attended Overhills Baptist Church regularly.  His hobbies included fishing and attending estate auctions.  He enjoyed Carolina Panthers football and Duke basketball.  A special trait was writing poems for his wife, Cathy, who he loved dearly.  He even bought them matching rocking chairs as he said they would enjoy as they grow old together.  Irvin's ashes will be placed on the fireplace mantle to watch over Cathy and Analyse.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin Chapel located at 904 Lucas Street, Erwin, NC  28339.  Cremation will follow.
