George A. Tanner, age 93, of Erwin went home to be with the Lord, Sunday October 12, 2025 in his home surrounded by family. He was born in Harnett County to the late George W. Tanner & Phoebe A. Lee Tanner.
Mr. Tanner was retired from Swift Industries(Erwin Cotton Mill), employed there for over 45 years. He has been married to his wife, his greatest love, Gracelene T. Tanner, for over 76 years.
Survivors include wife, Gracelene, daughter Rani Tart, son-in-law Allen Tart, grandchildren Madison and Ethan, honored son, John Gaster, nephew Ronald Tanner, and great nephews, and great nieces. Also survived by sister-in-laws, Louise Tanner & Joyce Daniels, and brother-in-law James Tart, & nephews Andy Tart, Danny Barefoot, Terry Daniels, Larry Daniels, Allan Parker, nieces Elaine Barefoot, Wanda Beaufort, and Kim Edwards and all of their families, and many cousins, neighbors and friends.

Alton Tanner - husband, brother, Daddy, father-in-law, Papa, uncle, cousin, and friend loved you all.
He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed but will live on in our hearts and precious memories.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin. Funeral service with Jerome Pope officiating, will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with burial after at the Erwin Memorial Park Cemetery.
