Gene Anthony Thornton

Gene Anthony Thornton, age 67, of Four Oaks, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina.

Gene was born March 25, 1956, the seventh child and the youngest son to the late Nellie Dunn and George M. Thornton, of the Bentonville Community. Gene grew up on the family farm where he worked and started a family. 

Mr. Thornton is preceded in death by his wife, Angela McCullen Thornton; and a granddaughter, Kinsley Rae Thornton, as well as one brother, Marshall Thornton, and two sisters, Georgia Carol Thornton, and Dwen T. Hudson.

Gene leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Marshall, Logan, and wife Ashley of Four Oaks, Donavann and wife Jamie, and Walker of Newton Grove. Granddaughters; Dixie Rose, Anna Kate, Becca James, and Reece Elizabeth. Siblings; Linda Drummond and husband Billy, Jennifer Baggett and husband Glenn, Keith Thornton and wife Lark, Morris Blackman, and Diana Blackman. He is also loved by several nieces and nephews as well as his in-laws; Jimmy and Linda McCullen; Sister-in-law; Jamie M. Dunn and husband Dewayne of Newton Grove.
