Gary Lelon Benson

Gary Lelon Benson, age 66, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026 with his family by his side. He has gone to heavenly home with no more pain and suffering.

He was born in Harnett County to the late Glenn Benson and Imogene Benson Byrd. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Giles, Rodney Giles and Johnny Strickland. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Buckelew and her husband Wilfred; his grandson, Joseph Buckelew all of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his brother, Larry Benson and his wife Betty of Erwin; his sisters, Brenda Newsome of Selma, Faye Stewart of Dunn, and Gay Parvett of Erwin.

He lived his life loving his family and friends. He worked building transformers and driving trucks. He loved the Lord and was a member of the Jonesboro Baptist Church, 2020 Jonesboro Road, Dunn, NC.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Dunn Funeral Home, 904 Lucas Street in Erwin, with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Price will officiate. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park.
