Frances A. (Jones) Edwards

On Monday, May 31, 2021, Frances Jones Edwards, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother gained her angel wings at the age of 86.

Frances was born on February 2, 1935 in Clinton, NC to Jada and Mary Parker Jones. She graduated from Herring School and later attended a 2 year business college in Greensboro. She worked for several businesses around the area including, Johnson Cotton and House Autry Mill. She found her true career when she began substitute teaching at Mingo School and then later became a teacher assistant there and then moved to Midway Elementary where she enjoyed over 30 years of teaching and inspiring students. She married the love of her life, MB Edwards, on January 3, 1958. They raised one son, Mark Wilson Edwards.

Frances was an active member of the Westbrook Grange, Herring Jewels, Vann Crossroads Ladies Auxiliary, and Roanoke Chapel where she held many positions including secretary and treasurer for the Roanoke Chapel Church.  Mrs. Edwards took pride in giving out “Sunshine Bags” to members of the community, along with sending out cards for special occasions.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Jada and Mary, son Mark, and 3 brothers, Bill, Jack, and Chester. Left to cherish her memory is her husband MB, daughter-in-law Phyllis, grandchildren Crystal, Chris, Matthew and Haley, and great-granddaughter Gracie, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
