Donna Hair

Donna Lynn Hair, age 74, of Linden, NC passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 4:30 am at her home. 

She was born on October 29, 1951 at Good Hope Hospital in Erwin, NC to the late Walter R. Norris and Reva J. Ryals Norris of Erwin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert Lee Hair of Linden, NC; her oldest brother, Jerry W. Norris of Flint, MI, middle brother, Michael A. Norris of Erwin, and youngest brother, Walter H. Norris (Herbie) of Erwin, NC and granddaughter, Teresa B. Gardner of Linden, NC.

Donna was a graduate of the 1969 class of Erwin High School, and later attended the H & R Block Tax School where she scored among the highest grades in her class.  She proceeded to work at the Dunn H & R block office for about 10 years as an Income Tax Preparer, Supervisor, and a Tax School Instructor.  She also worked at Jackson & Hewitt for a short time, eventually starting her own home based Income Tax Business, after a short time as a realtor. Working at home was a great fit for Donna as her elderly mother later came to live with her.  She started her business in 1996 and retired in 2015.  Donna was very well respected by her clients and they became quite good friends as the years went by always chatting.

Donna became a Christian in the middle of the 1970’s attending Bethune’s Chapel Church in Linden, NC and eventually began teaching Sunday School.  Later she joined Colliers Chapel Community Church in Linden, NC.  Although she no longer taught Sunday School, she helped with Bible school, wrote Christmas plays where she directed, acted, and sang.  (She always said she made a joyful noise because she could not sing).  Donna was the secretary of the Church’s Lady’s Auxiliary and also the director for the Senior Citizens Church dinners.  She loved cooking and baking for her family and community to enjoy.  She and her first husband, Robert, spent many hours fishing and camping and enjoying time with family and friends on their many trips.

Donna said she was blessed with two good men in her life.  She remarried in 2016 to Daniel R. Williams from Wilson, NC.  They enjoyed going to Hawaii and making beautiful music together as Danny was a musician and singer.

She is survived by her husband, Danny R. Williams and all of his family; one son, Robert Lee Hair Jr. and wife Pamela, of Linden, one daughter, Sherry Lynn Johnson and husband, Steven, also of Linden.  God was precious in her sight and her children were next.  She was also survived by 6 grandchildren, Joseph M. Bowers, Brandon L. Bowers, Jeremiah Johnson, Shelton B. Johnson, Shanna Johnson and Brian Hair, plus 15 great grandchildren.  And 2 sisters, Teressa Silvas and husband, Froylan (Raymond), and Cami Norris Viganas. Plus her precious Pomeranian pup, Brandy.

The family will receive friends and family from 7 to 9 pm on Friday evening, June 20, 2026 at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin at 904 Lucas Street, Erwin.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Colliers Chapel Community Church in Linden, NC at 9377 Colliers Chapel Church Road officiated by Pastor John Haney and Pastor Joan Jackson.  Graveside service follows at Ryals Family Cemetery in Erwin, NC (off Hwy 55 East) where Donna will be laid to rest with her children’s father, Robert Lee Hair.
