Dewey Edward Blackmon, age 79, of Four Oaks, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Sandra Barefoot Blackmon.
He was born in Johnston County on January 10, 1946 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he worked as a ship builder for most of his life.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; Dewey and Edna Anderson Blackmon and his brother; James Hubert Blackmon. Besides his wife Sandra, he is survived by his two sons; Terry and his wife Mari and Robert and his wife Kellie; his grandchildren; Holden, Joseph, Riley, Carson, and Austin Blackmon; his great-grandchildren; Noah, Wyatt, and Kallen Blackmon; his step-grandson; Dakota Hayes; a brother; Thomas Blackmon; a sister; Josephine and her husband Lynwood Lee, and several nieces and nephews.
Dewey enjoyed riding with Sandra and anything to do with his family. He loved fishing and farming when he could as well as his dog Toot-Toot.
Graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery of Four Oaks at 2 PM.
