Denay Jones Haire, 57, of Dunn passed away on November 21, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Denay inspired so many people with her determination, faith, and courage after a 10-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Unity Presbyterian Church, 11551 NC-50 near Newton Grove. Burial will follow at the church.
Denay was born on September 15, 1966 in Dunn to the late Mackie & Virginia Jones. She graduated from South Johnston High School in 1984. Denay then began her career with the North Carolina Department of Revenue where she retired after 32 years. Denay never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. She loved to dance and knew how to find the best deals on shopping trips. She was her children’s biggest (and loudest) fan at their ballgames. Denay was very involved in her church, Unity Presbyterian, and would do anything for her church family. As a child, she began vacationing at White Lake’s Camp Clearwater. The lake was her happy place. Nothing compared to spending time with family and the many friends she made over the years. Denay’s physical presence will be missed but her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched.
Denay’s greatest accomplishments in life were her family. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, William Terry Haire; daughter, Tara Denay Haire; and son, Dylan Mack Haire. She is also survived by her sister, Melody Williford and husband, Ronnie Williford; niece, Tiffany Warwick, and husband Daniel Warwick; great-nieces, Annlee Warwick and Conner Grace Warwick. Also left to cherish her memory are brother-in-law, Jody Ray Hair and sisters-in-law, Tammy Mason and Cathy Hair.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 6-8 PM at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove. The family would like to thank PruittHealth Hospice for their exceptional care.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Unity Presbyterian Church, c/o Ann Barefoot, P.O. Box 181, Newton Grove, NC 28366.
