Deborah Kathleen Hall Hoskins, age 76, of Dunn, NC passed away at The Carrolton Nursing Facility of Dunn after an extended illness.
Deborah was preceded in death by her loving husband, Derek Stewart Hoskins, her parents Wilbur Greene Hall and Wilma Lovette Hall, and a host of friends.
Deborah was a member of the Erwin High School Class of ’65. She then studied dance in Ohio where she met her husband, Derek. Through their studies, both became professional dancers. They developed a strong love for their musical passion and later moved back to Harnett County to share their love of the Arts. They opened The Dance Academy, which was across from Sherry’s Bakery, for many years and served Harnett County well. They later initiated the first GED pilot program in North Carolina. Their school was located at their country home where classrooms were specially built for that purpose. The home and school were located between Coats and Benson. Deborah had also taught at Campbell University and attended Heritage Bible College. During that time her husband worked for the US Postal Service in Dunn, NC.
The couple had many dogs, including show dogs, and loved them as if they were their children.
A memorial service is being held at The Erwin Church of God at 109 W C St, Erwin, NC at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023. She will be buried at the Erwin Memorial Park at a later date.
