Deborah Hall Ammons, lovingly known as Mama and Aunt Debbie, passed away peacefully at her home on January 14, 2026, at 4:05 PM, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
She was the heart of the Ammons family — the true matriarch whose presence anchored generations. She was strength wrapped in kindness, laughter paired with wisdom, and love given without condition. If you knew her, you knew warmth. If you needed a place to land, her home was open. If you were hungry — for food, for comfort, or for belonging — she made sure you were fed.
Her kitchen was the center of everything. It wasn’t just where meals were cooked; it was where stories were told, lessons were learned, and bonds were formed. Debbie believed that family wasn’t limited to blood — it was anyone who showed up, sat down, and stayed awhile. Many did, and she welcomed every one of them as her own.
Debbie lived her life the way she wanted to be remembered: surrounded by people, sharing food, laughter, and love. She asked that her life be celebrated not quietly, but together — in true Mama fashion.
Debbie was preceded in death by her loving husband, John (Johnny) Richard Ammons Sr.; her father, Ivan Amos Hall; and her mother, Charlotte Mina Hall.
She is survived by her devoted son, John Richard Ammons Jr., and his wife, Breanna Ammons; her beloved “pumpkins” — her grandchildren Alyssa Lynn Ammons, John Richard Ammons III, Charlotte Faye Ammons, and Maesie Jayde Ammons; her sister, Diane Poling, and husband Jerry; her brother, David Hall, and wife Judy; along with many nieces and nephews, and countless others who were blessed to be loved and claimed by her as Mama.
She leaves behind a family shaped by her love, guided by her example, and forever changed by her presence. Though her physical voice is quiet now, her spirit lives on in every gathering, every shared meal, every laugh that echoes through the family she built.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Debbie the way she lived — together, openly, and with full hearts.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
