Darrell was a farmer for many years, then became a plumber and owned and operated Darrell's Plumbing. He was co-owner of Performance Auto Mart in Dunn. He worked for Medlin & Dorman
Hardware until his health declined.
He was raised and still held Fair Haven Church of God in his heart. While attending he was choir director, Sunday School teacher and held multiple responsibilities. He was an active member of
Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church for approximately 18 years. He received Man of the Year award by the Men's Ministry on Father's Day 2014 along with his brother in Christ, Jim Floyd. He had served on the board as a Deacon for years. He treasured his friendship with Pastor Mark Fields and was a valuable asset using his "jack of all trades" talents in the remodeling of the new church location. He loved his church family, but most of all he loved his JESUS!
Daddy loved his family and spending time with all of us. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and watching them grow up. He loved joking around, pulling pranks, and had a hearty laugh that
never will be forgotten. He loved fishing and being on the water in his boat where many memories were made at the cottage at Carolina Beach. He loved any gathering that involved food, but you
can say Parker's in Wilson was his favorite, especially with his special buddy Billy Rhodes. Our meals will never be the same.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Kim and Wayne, 7128-B NC Hwy 242 S. Dunn, NC.
We appreciate all the prayers and everything everyone has done. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
