Danny Glenn Williams

Danny Glenn Williams, 59, of Newton Grove, passed away on September 15, 2021 at the SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health in Smithfield, North Carolina.

Danny is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Margaret "Susie" Jernigan Williams: his maternal grandparents Alec Ray Jernigan and Sally Capps Jernigan: and his paternal grandparents, James Perdie Williams and Gladys Bryan Williams.

He is survived by his father, Albert Bryan Williams of Newton Grove; three sons, Jonathan (Karmen) Williams of Newton Grove, Gage Williams of Newton Grove, and Brendan Williams of High Point; two granddaughters, Ely Grace Williams and Sophia Williams of Newton Grove; sisters, Terrie (Gary) Westbrook and Tammy Cooksey and John Westbrook of Newton Grove; brother, Jeffrey (Renee) Williams of Newton Grove; niece. Bridget (Bobby) Rackley of Newton Grove; nephews, Alex Cooksey of Charleston, South Carolina, Garrett Williams of Newton Grove, and Brad (Val) Cooksey and their son Forest of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; special "brother", Mike (Ashley) Tart of Greenville; and many friends, neighbors, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Born on February 11, 1962, Danny was the youngest of four siblings and was always quite mischievous. He played football for Hobbton High School and Chowan University, where he received his associate's degree. He loved the North Carolina Tar Heels and Pittsburgh Steelers football teams. Danny also loved the beach and has many fond memories of fishing off the Jolly Roger Pier at Topsail Beach. For several years, Danny worked for Williams' Construction, his father's business, before starting his own construction business, D&J construction. Danny had a huge heart. He loved life and lived it his way. 

A service celebrating Danny's life will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at West & Dunn Funeral Home with Curtis Pierce officiating. The family will also receive friends at the home of Bryan Williams, but food and flowers are not necessary but are welcomed. Memorials may be given to: Newton Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Brenda Raynor or Mary Schwartz, P.O.
